How to Choose the Right Haircut for You

March 16, 2020

It’s time for a change… in your hair. You know you’re looking for something different, but you’re just not sure what kind of change. It’s not as simple as just picking a haircut. You have to ask yourself some.serious questions. Will it be too short? Will it be hard to maintain? Are you going to end up with a bowl cut? Don’t overwhelm yourself with too many questions. Blue Collar Barber is here to help with these tips to help you choose your perfect haircut.

Follow These Tips

  • Check out hair magazines.
  • Look at celebrities and models that have similar facial shapes to yours.
  • Consider your hobbies. For example, if you’re at the gym a lot, you probably won’t want to have to constantly fool with your hair.
  • Consider your job; a mohawk might look cool, but if you work in an executive environment, it probably isn’t appropriate.
  • Be honest with yourself in determining your accurate facial shape.
  • Determine how much time you want to spend styling and maintaining your hair.

What Facial Shape Do I Have?

Faces are traditionally categorized into five shapes. Which kind do you have? We have listed the general qualities associated with each shape below:

Round – If your face is the same length and width, then you probably have a round face.

Oval – The length of an oval face is usually one and a half times the width.

Square – Much like with the round shape, a square face is usually as wide as it is long. The primary difference? Square faces are widest at the jaw.

Diamond – This facial shape is most easily distinguished by the widest part of the face being the cheeks.

Triangle – The signature feature of this shape is a pointed chin, accentuated by a wide jaw.

For men, choosing a hairstyle can be particularly difficult. However, it ultimately should be your choice. Because you know what you suits you best, our Kingsport barbers are less likely to tell you what their opinion is without being prompted. If you really want to find the most flattering hairstyle for you, you shouldn’t be afraid to ask. You could even ask for an adjustment to a chosen style.
